Minnesota

ArlArk

  • Arlington/Arkwright Off-Leash Dog Area Sunrise to 9:00pm. Located on the corner of Arlington Ave and ArkwrightStreet. Approximately 4.5 acres fully fenced, this long rectangle of park land includes wooded trails, open space and a large bowl-shaped slope. Nestled in a residential neighborhood, this park offers people and pets an opportunity to engage in social interaction and play. (Thank you Martha Gisselbeck)

Bloomington

  • Bloomington Dog Park. The dog park is located at 111th and Nesbitt Daily hours: dawn-10 p.m. Approximately 25 acres, partially fenced, tables, disposal bags, trees, parking, trash cans, swimming hole available. Access for the disabled. (Thank you Lyle Merdan)

Burnsville

  • Burnsville. 7 acres, fenced, benches, tables, disposal bags, trees, water, phones, restrooms, parking, trash cans, pond, wooded areas, open field, mowed prairie grass trail, double-gated entrance. City Of Crystal

  • Crystal Community Dog Park. Opening soon.   Location: adjacent to the MAC Wildlife Reserve bordering the Crystal airport.  Take Bass Lake Rd to Regent Ave, go north on Regent to 60th Ave.  Park at the Babe Ruth Ballpark.

Coon Rapids

  • Coon Rapids Dog Park. Fenced off leash dog park, No permit required, Poop bags provided, Owners need to provide water. Location: Hummingbird Street. (Thank you Jamie Wangen)

Dakota County

  • Dakota County Dog Park. Permit required. Hours: 5am-10pm. Located right in the middle of Dakota County near Coates, on Blaine Avenue south of County Road 46 (160th Street E). The 16 acre fenced site has both wooded and open space with a walking trail loop. There is no surface water. Parking, portable toilets, tables, bag dispensers and waste containers are available on site. Be sure to bring drinking water for your dog! Hours: 5am-10pm. Dayton

  • Elm Creek. Daily 5 a.m.-sunset. Fenced, tables, trees, parking, restrooms, trash cans. Over 30 acres with mowed trail through area. Permit required. (Thank you Lyle Merdan)

Eagan Park

  • Egan Park. You can exercise your dog at the City of Plymouth's off-leash dog area at Egan Park in northwest Plymouth. The 10-acre off leash dog area is not fenced, but native plants have been allowed to grow to create natural barriers to discourage dogs from straying off the property. The mowed trails and large play area also encourage dogs to stay in certain areas. Location: Approximately 17105 Co. Rd. 47. Directions: The park is on the south side of Co. Rd. 47 about two blocks west of Dunkirk Ln. at approximately 17105 Co. Rd. 47. The park includes a mowed open play area as well as two mowed trails. (Thank you Adam Shrode)

  • 7171 Flying Cloud Drive. Open fenced area. Location: 7171 Flying Cloud Drive. Directions: This fenced area is located on the curve on Flying Cloud Drive (along Highway 212) about 3/4 of a mile south of Shady Oak Road across from the old Best Buy softball field.   • Crestwood Park Hockey Rink. Hockey rink is used for a off-leash dog park from April through October. Location: 9780 Dell Road. Available April - October. (Thank you Pamela Akkerman)
  • Edenvale Park Hockey Rink. Hockey rink is used from April through October. Location: 7300 Edenvale Blvd. Available April - October. (Thank you Pamela Akkerman)

  • Nesbitt Preserve Park Hockey park. Hockey rink used as off-leash dog park from April - October. Location: 8641 Center Way. Available April - October.
  • Staring Lake Park - Dog Park. This 5.7 acres of land offers wooded areas and open fields. Location: 13800 Pioneer Trail. Directions: Located at the east entrance of Staring Lake Park, near the J.R. Cummins Homestead. Park at the baseball fields parking lot, take the trail at the north end of the parking lot. Fridley

  • Locke County Park. 1.5 fenced acres. Some woods, some open areas. Location: 840-71st Avenue NE. Directions: University Ave/CSAH 47 to 69th. Take frontage road to 71st. All the way at the end of the park behind Columbia Area. (Thank you Karen Blaska)

Mankato

  • Kiwanis Park. Two Fenced Areas, Wooded. One of the nicest dog parks we've been to! Hours 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. - open year round. Location: Highway 169 - north of Highway 14 intersection. If you are going north out of Mankato, the park will be on your right. Directions: Highway 169 - north of Highway 14 intersection. Maplewood

  • Lower Afton area of Battle Creek Regional Park. 12 acres, partially fenced, tables, parking, trash cans. No permit required. 12 acres, partially fenced, tables, parking, trash cans.   • Columbia Park. Approximately 2 acres, double-gated entry at the east and west ends of the park, fully fenced, parking, disposal bag dispensers, bench. Daily 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

  • Lake of the Isles Off-Leash Recreation Area. 2-1/4 acre fenced in, south end of lake. Permit required (city license and off leash permit cost $40 per year for Minneapolis residents). Location: 2845 E. Lake of the Isles Parkway. Directions: 2845 E. Lake of the Isles Parkway and Lake St. on the south end of Lake of the Isles. (W. 28th St. becomes Lake of the Isles Parkway).   • Minnehaha Off-Leash Recreation Area Approximately 4.2 acres along the Mississippi River, partially fenced, disposal bag dispensers, lighted parking area, Portajohn in parking area.
    Huge off leash park with river access for those water dogs. Location: 5399 S. Minnehaha Park Drive. Directions: Dog park is on south end of Minnehaha Park. Enter park at 54th Street and Hiawatha Avenue. Entrance to dog park is accessed by walking down a marked path. Parking lot at 54th Street.   • St. Anthony Parkway Off Leash Recreation Area. Location: 700 St. Anthony Parkway. Directions: St. Anthony Parkway Dog park is south of St. Anthony Parkway, across the street from the Columbia Golf Learning Center. Accesses are from Central Avenue and University Avenue N. E. Osseo, Maple Grove & Independence

  • Elm Creek Park Reserve, Crow-Hassan Park Reserve, Cleary Lake Regional Park and Lake Sarah Regional Park. Designated off-leash areas for dogs. Designated off-leash areas for dogs are available at Elm Creek Park Reserve, Crow-Hassan Park Reserve, Cleary Lake Regional Park and Lake Sarah Regional Park. These are the only areas in Three Rivers Park District where dogs may be off leash. An annual or daily pass is required to use these facilities. Annual dog off-leash area passes also are available from the Park District Administrative Center, Cleary Lake Visitor Center, or Eastman Nature Center. The fee is $30 per year for the first permit in a household and $15 for a second permit if needed. Daily Pass: A daily fee option is available via drop box at all four sites. The daily dog off-leash area fee is $5. Envelopes at each drop box will indicate the required fees and will include a Use Agreement, which must be signed. Location: located at 13080 Territorial Road. Directions: ELM CREEK PARK RESERVE is located at 13080 Territorial Road, northwest of Osseo, between Champlin, Dayton and Maple Grove. (Thank you Pamela Akkerman)

Plymouth

  • Egan Park. The park is located in northwest Plymouth on the south side of Co. Rd. 47 about two blocks west of Dunkirk Ln. The park includes a mowed open play area as well as two mowed trails. The 10-acre off leash dog area is not fenced, but native plants have been allowed to grow to create natural barriers to discourage dogs from straying off the property. The mowed trails and large play area also encourage dogs to stay in certain areas. Because water currently is not available at the park, owners should bring water with them for their dogs. Future development in the park may include a watering pond. Owners should also bring plastic bags to clean up after their pets. Pet owners are encouraged to bring extra plastic bags to donate for others to use. Trash containers are provided at the site. Location: 17105 Co. Rd. 47. (Thank you Lyle Merdan)

  • Three Rivers Parks District - A 12-month pet exercise area permit is available from the Park District Administrative Center, Cleary Lake Visitor Center, or Eastman Nature Center (fee: $25/year; Park Patron annual parking permit also required). A daily fee option is available via drop box at all four sites. The daily pet exercise area fee is $4, and normal parking fees also apply. Prior Lake

  • Cleary Lake. Daily 5 a.m.-sunset. 35 acres with pond, fenced, tables, parking, restrooms, trash cans. Trails are mowed in summer, packed in winter. (Thank you Lyle Merdan)

Ramsey County

  •  Ramsey County Off Leash Areas. Rice Creek Regional Trail Corridor (13 acres)  in Shoreview, the Lower Afton area of Battle Creek Regional Park (10 acres) in Maplewood, the Woodview Open Space Site (4 acres) in Roseville (This site also has a handicapped accessible area that is entirely fenced), and the Otter Lake Site (10 acres) in White Bear Township.  Acreage of the sites is estimated. Richfield

  • Airport Dog Park. Partially fenced; maintained by volunteers. Trees, lights, parking; this 80 acre spread is owned by MAC, as private property city leash laws not enforced. Parking lot crime has been reduced 100% thanks to the dogs. Bring your own water and poop bags; heaviest use 5p - 7p weekdays, all day weekends. Location: 6040 28th Avenue South (behind Metropolitan Airport Commission headquarters). Directions: Take Hwy 62 - 28th St. exit go south 3 blocks. Dog park is on the right side of street. Rockford

  • Lake Sarah. Daily 5 a.m.-sunset. Trees, parking, restrooms, trash cans. Over 30 acres with mowed parking area. Use is by permit only. (Thank you Lyle Merdan)

Rogers

  • Crow-Hassan. Daily 5 a.m.-sunset. Fenced, tables, trees, parking, restrooms, trash cans. Over 30 acres with a mowed trail through the area. (Thank you Lyle Merdan)

Roseville

  • Woodview. Ramsey County. Do not bring your dog if you cannot keep them out of the water. A very small separate fenced area for Small Dogs and access for disabled is adjacent to the parking lot. Small Dog Playtimes are Tuesday 6-7pm and Saturday 10-11am. Daily sunrise-sunset. No permit required. Location: Loated off Larpenteur Avenue, just east of Dale Street. Access gate to main off-leash area, which is approximately 100 yards down the bike trail. The wetland is off-limits. The wetland is off-limits, but not fenced. Dog owners who cannot keep dogs from the water should use the Arlington/Arkwright off-leash site in St Paul, located less than 10 minutes from Woodview. A very small separate fenced area for Small Dogs and access for Disabled is located immediately adjacent to the parking lot. Small Dog Playtimes are Tuesday 6-7pm and Saturday 10-11am. Saint Louis Park

  • Bass Lake Preserve. Temporary dog park. To use the dog park, visitors must first purchase a dog park permit ($15 for St.. Louis Park residents/$30 for non-residents) which is good through the end of the year. The Bass Lake site will serve as a dog park only until a permanent home can be found for the facility. Permits purchased in 2005 will be good for the entire year — no matter where the permanent dog park is eventually located. Location: West 36th Street and Belt Line Boulevard. (Thank you Adam Shrode)
  • Saint Louis Dog Park. This fenced 1.5 acre interim site is located at the Bass Lake Preserve on West 36th Street and Belt Line Boulevard (east of the tennis courts). Bring drinking water for your dog! Permit Required. (Thank you Lyle Merdan)

Saint Paul

    Arlington/Ark dog park. leash Dog Area, commonly referred to as an OLDA, is located on the corner of Arlington and Arkwright. The park is bounded by Arlington Avenue on the north, Arkwright Street on the west, Clark Street on the south and Desoto Street on the east (map). Approximately 4.5 acres, this long rectangle of park land includes wooded trails, open space and a large bowl-shaped slope. Nestled in a residential neighborhood, this park offers people and pets an opportunity to engage in social interaction and play. This park is supported in part by maintenance and financial contributions from Responsible Owners of Mannerly Pets (ROMP) of Ramsey County. Location: located on the corner of Arlington and Arkwright. Shoreview

  • Rice Creek Regional Trail Corridor. 12 acres, not fenced, tables, parking, trash cans, flat with prairie vegetation, small pond. No permit required. Open daily, sunrise to sunset. Location: South of County Road J on Lexington Avenue. From Highway 35W, go East on County Road J and then make a right on Lexington Avenue. Victoria

  • Carver Park Reserve. 27 fenced-in acres. Separate area for small and older dogs. Nicely groomed trails. Picnic tables, bathrooms, disposal bags and garbage cans. No fresh water source. Beautiful area overlooking Steiger Lake. Owned by Three Rivers Park District. Daily usage fee of $5 or $30 for a yearly pass. Location: Park Drive Victoria, MN. Directions: Take Highway 5 west of the Twin Cities to Victoria. Turn North on Park Drive, just east of Victoria City Limits. Follow Park Drive Approx 1 mile. (Thank you Cara Winter)

White Bear Township

  • Otter Lake. Opening October 2004 Partially fenced 10+ acres of rolling hills with both wooded and open prairie vegetation. A separate 1-acre fully fenced Small Dog Area is also a feature this site. Proceeds from the DogTober Film Festival will help fund development of Otter Lake. Woodbury

  • Woodbury Dog Park. Leash Free several acres of open fields and wooded areas.
    Fully fenced with trails and benches. It is next to the St. Paul police K-9 training area. Go south on 19 past Baily road to Dale. Turn right about 2 miles to the park which is on the north side of the road but well marked. Dog license required. Location: Dale Road between Manning and Hwy 19 in Woodbury. Dog Fun Etiquette
  1. Make sure to bring something (like a pooper scooper or bags) to pick up the mess your dog(s) make. Always clean up after your dog.
  2. Bring some water for your dog and a leash (just in case)
  3. Don't bring your dog if it is aggressive
  4. Don't let your pet wander too far. Always keep an eye on them.
  5. If the park is near a residential area, minimize the barking.
